Noah’s Wish was awarded a Commendation from the Placer County Board of Supervisors, recognizing our assistance to Placer County Animal Services during the 49er Fire in Auburn, CA.??? This fast and furious fire ripped through a residential area in the foothill community on August 30, 2009, destroying 60 homes and three businesses. Residents had very little notice to evacuate and as the fire had erupted on a Sunday afternoon, many were away from home.? Neighbors and evacuation teams rescued a number of animals, taking them to the Placer County Animal Services facility for sheltering and care.??? A total of 48 animals were logged in, including horses, cats, dogs,? exotic birds, chickens and a tortoise. Most of the animals have been returned to their owners, while a few are still sheltered at the Placer County Animal Control, as their owner’s homes were destroyed.
